Itten's 7 Contrasts

1. Contrast of hue
-use only pure, saturated primaries and secondaries, along with black and white (not mixed with the colors, but on their own)

2. Contrast of value

-use a monochromatic color scheme; chose one hue, along with tints and shades of it

3. Contrast of temperature

-explore extreme temperatures by creating a composition that has both orange-red (very warm) and blue-green (very cool)

4. Contrast of Saturation

-use  a color scheme of 80% muted colors (you mixed them in those swatches when you combined complimentaries), and 20% pure saturated colors; explore the illusion of depth that happens

5.Contrast of Extension

-use a complimentary pair of red and green (diluted and/or saturated), more of one and less of the other

6.Contrast of Complimentary

-use a color scheme of yellow and violet, diluted and/or saturated

7.Simultaneous Contrast
-use neutral grays along saturated colors, and explore how the more saturated colors optically affect the neutrals
